Internet problems

After many calls and long waits on the phone and more than a week with no internet serves were back.  I must explain that I live in a rural area there are only 2 companies that provide this area with high speed internet out here.  The first one was just a bad experience but the current one is ok BUT they have their days.  This is the 2st time in the last year that they more or less went down what would happen here you can get on but for only 5 minutes or so and then you would be dropped it was frustrating but they are a lot better than the other guys by a long shot.  Any way I am back will have some news and thoughts posted soon thanks for being there.

Peace and long life

Vages con Warehouse 13 and other mussings and websites blogs podcast

Wow that heading was a mouth full but I am behind a little of getting some things done so let’s get on with it.

This last weekend was the big event for us Star Trek fans Creations Las Vegas con the biggest here in the states maybe the world.  I had great fun reading tweets from others that were attending the con.  I was following Chris from Subspace Communiqué a strictly ST website I will provide a link later in this post.  One thing that I could make out form Chris photos was that there seem to be a fairly good crowed attending I don’t have any numbers yet but if I find them I will let you know.  Seems that there was a party every night of the con and I think that at least a few of them left with some hangovers.  One thing of note was that at this year’s con they broke the world record of the most ST costumes in one room and the last count I saw was 1040 so congrats to Creation for that new record.  Next notable thing was that Leonard Nemoy said that this year’s con would his last and from the reports from what I had seen that he was a little teary eyed about it all.  I wish I could have attended but maybe one day I will.

Now let’s switch gears and we get some good news that SYFYs Warehouse 13 just got the up on another season so that is good news. I only started watching W13 last season and its beginning to become one of my favorites but it is in tuff compaction with Sanctuary as far as I am concerned even though W13 has better numbers (viewers) Sanctuary is still my favorite on SYFY.  So my hat is off to W13 for another season and I hope that it’s as good as it was last season and last hope that SYFY does not screw it up as they are known to do form time to time.

I guess next thing that I will talk about is what I am watching now new and old so let’s get to it.  First I am watching Game of Thorns from HBO on Netflix I just watched the 5th episode of the 10 so for this season and all that I can say is wow one thing that I would like to add( only 10 ep) but I am sure it all boils down to cost maybe be we get a few more next season.  All the acting is first rate and the cinema photography is right on as well as the special affects there is not a ton of it but its woven into the story so good that you would not give it a second thought.  I love how it is all coming together were there are some charters that you are not sure if they are bad and good or some were between.  And so far it keeps me guessing so if you have not checked it out please do so and I promise you that it won’t disappoint you.
And next is the old I am re-watching THE X-FILES and started with the 1st season and I will make the run though to the 9th season.  This show is one of the all time favorites of mine and I am thinking of just doing a blog on just this show but I have to do some research and see what kind of competition I am up against so we will see.

All right here is some websites that I log on to just about dally I won’t post all of them today but it’s a start:

Well guys that is a few of them I will make a point of  posting more in the next few weeks along with podcast and other sites that are just different.  So stay tuned and please email me with any questions that you may have.

Peace and long life.

Blue Ray disk and the Alphas Pilot

Hi guys coming soon will be some of my favorite links that will cover blogs, podcast, and websites. I hope that this coming weekend I will have the time but I will try my best get some of it done.

Now my first topic for today would be Blue Ray disk and is it worth the cost of updating all of your collations. From my own experience with it so far is a resounding no.  The picture and color or just a little shaper but having more content (extras) was cool but that was about it with a much high cost I just don’t see it.  I have a Star Trek collection that took me more than a few years to put together ( TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT) and that was not cheap it took me about 7 years to collect it. Now it’s all on DVD and remember I am the poor sci-fi guy so between birthdays and fathers days and Xmas each year and my own cash I got it together.

I remember going from VHS to DVDs and it was a no brainer DVDs just knocked VHS out of the park.  But with Blue Ray it’s a little different that there is just is not enough difference for me that is to make a complete change over to Blue Ray and for me it cost prohibited.  But to each his own and your money.

Next on the agenda is the new SYFY show Alphas I just viewed it a few days ago and here are some of my thoughts.  For one there are a bunch of Idiots out there that are all ready trying to kill it off, come on give it a chance.

I found that I like most of the charters the professor seems a little to wimpy and the autistic kid that can see wave lengths if not toned down could get on peoples nerves.  I found the FBI agent with the supper strength just ok and the girl that has super senses needs a lot of work.  The 2 bright spots for me were the woman that can break your will and make you do anything and Bill I think his name was that is very accurate with making crazy shots with a base ball and coins or bullets.  I really liked these 2 charters.  It may take me an episode or 2 to get all the names down but there is just enough there to get me to come back and at that time I will have another report.

I rate this 5 out of 10 stars.

Peace and long life.

Friday’s prim time is not a sure death or is it

Hi guys as I build this blog and try to figure out how I would present it I just read something that just makes me scratch my head.  There are web news sites that seem to have the idea that if a show is moved from say Mondays nights to Friday nights it must be a 1. A stinker 2.the series ran its course 3. It’s just an ok show see what it can do here.

It’s a given fact that Friday nights has a smaller audience than any other night of the week. But for me if a show can hold its audience numbers from its last time slot or may drop a few points on Fridays nights I think that at this time net works should give these shows some leg room and support them for a season or two more.  I know it boils down to money and I have series doubts about the old and out of date nelson ratings concept.

I think there is a need for change in this regard, let’s have a look at DVRs play back and streaming on line like Hulu. These are numbers that are just being missed and it could have an impact how we view our favorite shows.  Please let me know your ideas on the subject and email me and I will repost and we will discuss it more on a later date.

Peace and long life.

Let’s get started:

Deathly Hallows Part 2 gains on Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

Well we know this is nothing about but MONEY but yea it’s good to see that the genre is still some of the biggest money makers out there.  As of this week Deathly Hallows part 2 has made over 325 million here in the good old USA and is doing quite well over seas as well.  I don’t think that it will overtake Avatar but it may find itself in the top 4 or 5 top grossing films of all time.

Next as you know I am a poor man so please send me photos and anything that you may have on last week Comic Con.  One day before I die I may have the funds to go but YOU can help out by sending me a little something maybe like how you spent your time there what actors you got to talk with or panels that you sat in on.  I would love to hear about all of your fun that you had and even the stuff that was not so fun like the big crowds and bad food.  So please send me emails and I will try my best to include it here.

Next this weekend is Vegas Con and the same goes for that send photos and a description of the photo and all the fun that you had at the event.  I may be asking a lot as I just started this blog but with your help I will try to make this a weekly must read for you.

I will be making up some ground this week so I will be adding stuff about every day just to catch up so please bear with me as I do so.
